Krone introduces the BiG Pack 1290 HDP II (VC) large square baler with a bale size of 1.20 × 0.90 m, designed for high density, especially in dry straw. An uncontrolled pick-up with a hold-down device that can be adjusted continuously from the seat ensures clean feeding; behind it, a 0.72 m cutting rotor with 26 or 51 knives works to achieve cutting lengths from 44 or 22 mm. Throughput is supported by a slip-monitored belt drive with integrated overload clutch. The filling and baling control system has been redesigned, with settings made electronically at the terminal; hydraulic cylinders automatically regulate the baling force. Eight double knotters tie without leaving any twine residue, while two turbines keep the area clear. Twine boxes that can be lowered on both sides hold 48 rolls weighing 15 kg each (range up to approx. 1,500 bales at 2.35 m). A 600 kg flywheel smooths out load peaks, and a reinforced start-up aid makes starting easier. A new feature is a maintenance mode that slowly rotates the machine and checks the timing, sensors, and actuators via self-diagnosis.
