The John Deere 9RX 830 is the most powerful articulated tractor in series production to date. The top model has a rated power output of 830 hp. At peak performance, the engine delivers an impressive 913 hp and a torque of up to 4,234 Nm.  

The new John Deere 9RX crawler tractors draw their power from the JD18X engine from Deere Power Systems. The six-cylinder powerhouse with a displacement of 18 liters is already familiar from John Deere forage harvesters. The engine distributes the work between two turbochargers, which allows for high torque at low speeds. New is the fully mechanical e21 PowerShift transmission with 21 gears.  

The crawler tracks have been enlarged accordingly. Instead of two rollers, there are now three to guide the tracks. The drive wheels of the new chassis have a diameter of 1,200 mm and are wrapped around the tracks by 110°. This engages 7.5 drive lugs on the tracks.
