Krone developed the CombiPack HDP CV 165 XC, a variable baler-wrapper combination for bales measuring 1.0 to 1.65 m. At its heart is the new drive concept: a gearbox drives the rotor and drive rollers of the mono belt, with only the baling rollers still running via chain. The 2.23 m wide pick-up with five uncontrolled rows of tines is hydraulically operated and adapts to the driving speed. An integral rotor guides the forage over 41 knives; the theoretical cutting length is 27 mm, and knife groups can be conveniently switched from the cab. During wrapping, the swing arm swings the bale onto the table in 6 seconds, two wrappers run at 40 rpm; 750 film can be pre-stretched by 55 or 70 percent. In practice, the single belt promises less crumbling loss and greater bale density, while the single axle offers a large contact area for low ground pressure and better maneuverability.
